Your Typical Vacation Post
I was doing pretty good with creating content last month. Writing blog posts, bragging about it. Starting a podcast, bragging about it. Bringing CTO of Amazon to Berlin, also bragging about it. The ideas were sparkling and I had so much to tell, so much to share. Then it was time to go for a vacation and even more ideas came up. Creativity at its peak.
I had one of the best time offs in my life, with my wife and my son, at Costa Brava of Spain. We didn’t rest, yes right. Our boy woke us up with sunrise everyday and we moved, non-stop. At least 20.000 steps everyday. We ate healthy, barely drank alcohol or ate sugar. As much as the movement helped to stay fresh and creative, there wasn’t an opportunity for me to note my ideas, my thoughts to a paper (or a phone even). So, now the ideas are part of the universe. Or maybe they will come back at some point, and this time I will have my pen and paper with me!
AWS Community Day DACH 2026 - This time in Berlin!
The recent months we’re working on organizing Community Day DACH 2026 - an AWS focused event organized independently by AWS Heroes, Community Builders and User Group Leaders together with support of sponsoring companies. It’s a full day conference with 500+ participants, offering technical sessions and talks at multiple stages. First time we organize it in Berlin and it’s been a wild ride to organize it. Now we are counting the days and soon we will welcome many cloud experts and enthusiasts to learn from each other.

I’m already proud of every single person, friend involved in organizing the Community Day DACH. Believe me it’s not easy, and more to tell, this year we are many new faces - trying to do many things differently. One of the things that seems to continue the same way, is the level of talks.
Level of Talks?
AWS related talks has a leveling system. 100 is the most introductory, while 400 is the most expert level. See here if you want to learn more about it. No doubt, level 400 talks are more appreciated by more experienced developers and engineers, and surely it feels good to prove your expertise to many.
Let’s be fair. We all would like to have the nice feeling of being an expert on something and present our expertise on the stage. But, do we all need the expert level knowledge, really?

The access to knowledge, and the pace of learning is under revolution. We all experience that. And at times like these, I believe it’s crucial to not skip the importance of introducing the basics. Not only to newcomers, but even to experts themselves. Because there is so much to learn. And products/services do expand. Then even the basic definition of a “resource” may change. It’s good to revisit the fundamental definitions and have a moment to absorb it with everything we know.
With that said, I kind of sense that the preference of talks for the Community Day is more leaned to expert level: level 300 and 400. We can be more inclusive. We can welcome level 100 and level 200 talks. I think it’s necessary, for all the reasons I mentioned above and more.
I look forward creating level 100 and 200 talks in 2027 and it will be my pleasure to apply to as many Community Days as possible in Europe, with the hope of being accepted. Whether you are new to cloud topics, or an expert - please let me know what topic you would like me to focus on. When the bar is lowered, there is so many interesting things to tell and introduce, I just would love to know where to begin.
Finally, register Here if you want to join us at AWS Community Day DACH 2026. It will be awesome to have you with us.
A few notes
- I was worried how to catch back the pace of blogging when I started writing. Now I’m on fire, once again. This was easy! And I’m happy
- I also recall that I wanted to write something about the balance of being away. The week before the vacation is stressful, you want to make sure things function when you are gone. Then the week when you are back is also an apocalypse. You are not ready, and everyone needs your support. I will have my next vacation in November. If I’m unlucky to have the same experience again, this time I’ll write something about it.
- I was hoping to release a podcast episode the first week of every month. I missed my chance this month. But I hope to release one before the month is over. Let’s see.
- Thank you so much for reading my post.
